A Star is Born

This week was Gwen's first appearance in the infamous CAPA June Dance recital.  We've known many a parent whose daughters are completely caught up in CAPA (California Academy of Performing Arts).  It's a serious dance school where girls and parents have been known to be scolded for having a hair out of place and I've heard rumors of a 5 year old being told to suck in her stomach.  But, it being walking distance to our house, we HAD to check it out and I'm so glad we did!  I've found the teachers to be really nice and the director to be completely civil when nit-picking about making sure head pieces are securely pinned.  And, in the end, the show turns out great!

But, most importantly, Gwen LOVES to perform!  Her Intro to Dance class did a routine to "She'll be coming 'round the mountain".  I wonder how long it'll take to get that song out of my head.  Gwen had zero stage fright and, in my totally unbiased opinion, was the best little cowgirl out there.  She knew all her steps and did them on cue with flair!  She's come such a long way from that shy little girl who would stare into space and just barely do the hand motions in the Christmas pageants at school.  After her performance, we watched the older kids do their numbers and Gwen sat at the edge of seat and clapped loudly after each number.  She was clapping with such enthusiasm that the man sitting next to us looked at her and laughed, asking "Do you want to do that someday?".  Of course, Gwen said yes.  She's already looking forward to next year!

A little glamour-shotty, but her mom was
a professional photographer after all...

Doing the "Hi There" motion.

"Whoa Back".  Notice Gwen's perfect form - arms pulling back those
reins, one leg up, knee bent.

She loves the stage!
