Back to school

Gwen started 1st grade this week - my big girl!   Here is her first grade roster:

Gwen is in Miss McKinnon's 1st grade class.  So far, Gwen seems to love her teacher, as usual.  She came home the first day and reported that Miss McKinnon looks like a teacher from a book.  Having never seen her teacher, I was picturing a skinny, brown-haired woman with a bun and glasses from that description.  And, lo and behold, I got 3 out of 4 right.

Gwen started taking the bus home this year, which was very exciting for both Gwen and me.  At first, the thought of her riding home all by herself was a little scary and strange to me, but now I wonder why there aren't busses to all her activities!

While this isn't her first year at Rheem, I feel like she grew up so much entering first grade.  She came home and told me all about her day (a first) and just seems to have matured overnight.

And a week later, it was Whitney's first day of Pre-K with Miss Kika and Miss Kim.  She's an old pro at preschool.  She was a little nervous during visiting day, but by drop off on the first day, it was a quick easy goodbye and into the classroom she went!  At pick-up, she told me that she made friends with a 5 year old and a 4 year old.  No names, but of course, they were girls.  She also told me that she doesn't like boys.  "Boys are gross, they stand up when they go potty.  Emily told me so".
