Nutcracker Angel

The culmination of 3 years of dance and 3 June shows finally arrived this year - Gwen got to be in the CAPA Nutcracker!  I've heard many horror stories about the week that is the Nutcracker - 3 dress rehearsals and 4 performances over the course of 8 days with an infamous dance director who is scary and mean but puts on a great show!  Well, I'm now a seasoned Nutcracker mom and my predecessors didn't exaggerate.  I have vowed never again, so we have lots of pictures to remember this once in a lifetime event!

As a Daisy, Gwen's group started out the 2nd Act as an Angel, dancing with the Arch Angels and serving as an adorable background to the handmaidens and Sugar plum fairy.

But first, there was the prep where about 200 moms became personal stylists, tailors and hairdressers.  Tan leotard, pink tights, pinning wings and of course, cementing hair into ringlets galore!

And, it's showtime!  

On the Saturday evening performance, the girls put on their Rudolph concerto performance.  This might be my favorite dance Gwen has performed to date.
