Girls weekend #2

Gwen's turn for a mother-daughter weekend!  Right after 4th of July, Gwen and I took a short trip to Tahoe with her friend Phoebe and Phoebe's mom.  On the way up, we hit the American River for a mellow class 2 rafting trip on the way up.  I think this was everyone's favorite activity - the river was a little tame for these guys, but the scenery was gorgeous and there were a few little rapids to keep things interesting.  During the flat sections, the girls got to jump in the river - which was freezing cold on this hot day!

The next morning, we did a morning trail ride and then hit King's Beach.  The water was surprisingly warm (Pacific Ocean warm!) and shallow out for what seemed like miles.  Unfortunately our stay at the beach was cut short by some thunder and lightning that was creeping up on us.

On our last day, we spent a couple hours in the morning at a ropes course, where we climbed obstacles and zip lined.  It was go-at-your-own-pace and the girls ripped through the courses, without waiting for us to catch up or really each other.   They definitely got max utility out of our 2 1/2 hour session!

After lunch in Tahoe City, we split up for a couple of hours so that I could see a bunch of vacation homes with our agent.  With any luck, this may be one of our regular stomping grounds soon!
