The stands were full and everyone was super into the game. Gwen wasn't the scoring machine she usually is, but she had a ton of blocks and steals, helping Duke achieve their 16-10 victory. You would have thought it was the NBA finals or the Olympics. The girls were so happy and proud, especially since Oregon seemed unbeatable. One parent told us in all the leagues his kids have done, this was the first championship they'd won and it felt awesome. A week after the game, Jon texted Adam saying that he's still on cloud 9. That's just the kind of season it was!

League Champs
The Golden State Warriors just broke the all-time record for most home wins in a row. But Warrior basketball's got nothing on 3rd Grade LMYA Girls Duke Basketball! Gwen was the lead scorer for her team and the games were super fun, suspenseful and exciting to watch for me and all the parents. Adam again coached with Jon Cain and those men took their job seriously! After a great season, her team went into the playoffs ranked #2 in the league behind an undefeated and stacked Oregon team. After winning their playoff game, they headed into the Championship match against Oregon as the underdogs. We had played Oregon twice and both times, we lost by 1 point. This is the first year the league starts keeping score and ranking the teams, and Gwen told me 'If we win, this will be the first trophy that I'm proud of."
