The first weekend of summer, Adam and Alex Chang went to Vegas together, so Beth and I took the girls on an impromptu trip to Yosemite! We stayed at the Evergreen Lodge, a very rustic but well equip resort that feels like camping but with all the comforts of civilization.
The lodge was about 45 minutes from the valley, perfect for a little day trip. Yosemite did not disappoint! Beautiful waterfalls and lots of kid friendly (and some not as kid friendly but do-able) hikes. With a record breaking wet winter, the waterfalls were gushing! And we hit a bit of a heat wave, so the weather was actually great - warm dry hikes mixed with splashes of freezing cold water. The trail to the Lower Yosemite Falls was paved and easy, but really beautiful. The hike up to the Vernal Falls was a bit more challenging - lot of uphill in the heat. And then stopping by El Cap on the way out made for some amazing photo ops and the opportunity to see climbers way up on the face on the mountain. The girls couldn't wait to come home and watch Free Solo.
