Diary of a middle child

Whitney's Kindergarten class has been doing various writing exercises for Writer's Workshop. This is what I found in her backpack this week:

"I see a problem because my family is mean to me sometimes.  It makes me sad"

In the picture, Whitney is asking Gwen if she will play with her and Gwen answers 'no!'

The picture is Whitney asking Adam, "Can you help me, Dad?" and Adam answering "Not now".

And finally, Mom gets shamed:

"Mom, can you play with me?  One second."

Hey, at least '1 second' implies that I'm about to play with her in just a second...
