Last night was awards night at the pool. I couldn't attend because we had dinner plans with Christine/Eric and Eva/Jon, but the neighborhood event was one of the reasons we couldn't find a babysitter for the night, so Adam skipped dinner and stopped by the ceremony with the girls and picked up Gwen's Mini Marlin trophy. Her first trophy!
This was her first season in swimming lessons and Gwen might have been the most reluctant swimmer in the bunch. She hated listening to the teachers and only wanted to swim "all by myself!". If the coaches weren't there though, she'd be very eager to go to the pool, go under water, dive for her ursula doll, "swim" back and forth across the pool by flailing her arms and kicking her legs, use the kickboard and jump in off the side all by herself. She could make some good distance swimming out to me if I held a toy right out of her reach by extending her arm forward and kicking. We look forward to seeing how she takes to the "team" part of swim team next year.
