Biker Chicks

I recently went through the effort and expense of getting a bike rack installed on my car.  This involved learning what a trailer hitch is, buying one, getting it installed on my car, doing all the research to pick the right bike rack, buying the rack, assembling the rack...

Several hours and several hundred of dollars later, we have a beautiful new bike rack and I am determined to get my time and money's worth!  Every free weekend day we have (which has not been many between soccer games, swim meets and birthday parties), our family of 5 packs up our 3 bikes, 1 borrowed tagalong and the chariot and heads out for a bike ride.  We have done the Iron Horse trail a couple of times and just last weekend discovered the Bay Trail in Alameda (thanks to a google search for 'best bike trail for kids bay area').

The Bay Trail was perfect - flat, paved, no cross-streets to worry about.  And as an added plus, there is a long stretch of beach, perfect for a lunch stop.  It was one of those great Bay Area finds!

At the start of the trail near Crab Cove.

You can't tell from the picture, but there is a great view of the
city skyline.
