| Whitney at 16 months |
Yesterday was Whitney's 16 month check-up. She hated being in the doctor's office and kept trying to make a run for the door. After a very rough hour topped off by 2 shots, here is the latest on Whitney.
Length: 34 1/2 inches (98th percentile)
Weight: 25 1/2 lbs (80th percentile)
Head: 48 cm (95th percentile)
She's about as tall but a couple of pounds lighter than her sister was around this time. Whitney burns those calories running around, climbing and jumping all day!
She has picked up a bunch of new words since our last update. Some of her favorites include "Book" and "Snack". She's also starting on the two syllable words including "Buckle", "Elmo", "Nana (banana)", "Robynne (her nanny)" and "Ah-Sen (her other nanny)". She likes to tell people to "Go" when she wants them to move along or go away. Whenever someone leaves the room, she says "Bye Bye". She'll repeat almost anything you want her to, and she copies her sister when she's saying "No!" and "Mine!" but she hasn't really started using those words on her own. She's more of a 'yes' girl. She answers questions by nodding or shaking her head such as:
"Whitney, do you want to go night night?" (Shakes head no)
"Whitney, do you want a snack?" (Nods head and says 'Snack')
"Whitney, do you have a poo poo?" (Nods head and says 'poo poo' and pats her diaper)
"Whitney, can I change your diaper?" (Shakes head no)
She's becoming a pro at feeding herself breakfast. I can just hand her a bowl of cereal and a spoon and she'll finish the bowl with minimal spills, look up and say "More".
Her favorite foods are fruit and tofu. She loves dogs and babies and can't walk past a pair of our shoes without putting them on. She gives kisses (I often hear her in her carseat planting kisses on her baby dolls). She grinds her teeth in the middle of the day and loves to help me brush my teeth (but hates to brush her own). She can carry a tune and sing choruses on queue. Her mind is always going. Whitney is a rambunctious little cutie who may be part Tasmanian Devil. She is an absolute handful who makes me realize how easy a toddler Gwen was and marvel at how two sisters can be so different. But, she is a very happy baby and just cute and funny as can be! I can't wait to see what she's like this time next year!
