We said goodbye to 2010 last night in classic parents-with-young-children style - hanging out with neighbors and counting down with the East Coast. The Heidersbachs hosted a party for a few fellow Moraga families and we had 20-some kids running around. Surprisingly, we hardly saw the kids as they retreated upstairs to play, away from adult supervision. The only one running around downstairs was the youngest little one of the group, Whitney! She arrived at the party in her PJs, ready for bed, and after walking around the party very independently, she happily and easily went to bed in her pack-and-play a little while after we arrived. My little angel!
Gwen got to run around with her favorite little partner in crime, Danielle.
At a few minutes to 9pm, the kids came down to help us count down to the New Year (in New York).

After a few more drinks, we were the last ones to leave the party at 10:30pm. We carried a groggy little Whitney to the car and she went right down again at home. The unusual ease of taking her to the party might have been the most exciting thing about that night (which is not a statement about the party but rather a major turning point in Whitney's usual crazy and high maintenance behavior) and I hope it's a sign of things to come in the new year!
